I'm headed to my bridal shower this weekend. I don't like showers, but I love my Aunt. So I thought I'd leave you with one of the many songs that lately has made me cry.

That's the one thing they don't tell you about getting married. Everything will make you cry.

Being a photo nerd and a bride on a budget is the worst thing ever. Both Josh and I decided that photography was one of our priorities, but not in the huge budget kind of way. But in the dear god we did not want a "traditional" wedding photographer kind of way. We want our wedding photos to be more art than portraits, and really, I'm just hoping for one picture where I don't look like a freak.

If I had lots of money, I'd die for Anne Ruthman (http://www.anneruthmann.com/) gorgeous work she does. But, I'm also in love with our Photographers Pam and Luke of Unica Images. They are just starting out, so we get to take advantage of their super skill at a not yet established type of price and that works for this photo nerd on a budget.

Cake cake cake....

So we had a cake tasting a couple weeks ago.. and as I predicted, the boy did not like fondant one little bit. Additionally, as great a job as my mum did, it was obviously amateur - so we've moved on to buttercream, the boy loves the taste and the mum is far more comfortable with the medium. So, we're looking for designs for cakes that one could use buttercream for.

I love love love this one. Only with pink icing and fewer white flowers, we'll also need more layers to feed everyone but it's the idea that inspires me. Thoughts?
